Sarinah Hosts Public Event with Local Youth

On 24th July 2017, Sarinah hosted a public event with local Indonesian youth from Jakarta during the “Siswa Mengenal Nusantara 2017” event. The event seeks to promote Indonesia’s diverse regions and introduce students to the country’s leading state-owned enterprises. For this year’s event, selected students will visit East Kalimantan where they will gain the opportunity to learn in-depth about the region’s culture, economic potential, and areas of growth for the future.

As a longstanding supporter of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Sarinah regularly displays a number of products from SMEs based in East Kalimantan. By working alongside Indonesia’s budding talents, Sarinah hopes to inspire the country’s next generation of youth to bolster the industry standing of local SMEs on both a local and international scale.

Moreover, Sarinah additionally hosted selected participants of the “Siswa Mengenal Nusantara 2017”  programme from East Kalimantan in Jakarta in which the students had the chance to meet with Indonesia’s Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Ms Rini Soemarno; the event took place on 25th July 2017.

On 27th July 2017, students from East Kalimantan had the chance to try a cashless transaction using the “e-money” card when taking the train from Bogor to Jakarta.

During the event, Sarinah asked a small group of young Indonesians what they know about the origin of the name Sarinah. Here are a few of their answers!
