Sarinah Hosts Ramadan Bazaar and Fashion Show
From 30th-31st May 2018, Sarinah hosted a bazaar and fashion show in celebration of the month of Ramadan at its department store in Jakarta. The event aimed to provide visitors with a broad range of products at discounted prices that included handicrafts, clothing, and traditional food items with live music also being made available. Sarinah also implemented ‘Takjil on the road’ activities which involved the company’s management team and staff distribute snacks and water to visitors and members of the public that passed by its department store.
Furthermore, as part of the event, the company administered staple goods such as rice, beef, sugar, milk, eggs, and cooking oil to low-income communities across Jakarta. This is part of Sarinah’s ongoing contribution to the government’s Partnership and Community Development Programme — an initiative established by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises that requires SOEs to either provide business loans and coaching to SMEs or support community development through various projects.
In addition to the bazaar, Sarinah held a fashion show which showcased its diverse Ramadan collection, featuring contemporary Muslimwear designs for hijabs, dresses, and pashminas. The company has gained notoriety for cooperating with brands that are modern, comfortable, and cost-competitive, enabling Sarinah to cater to a wider segment within Indonesia’s robust middle-class.
Through hosting its bazaar and fashions show, Sarinah highlighted its commitment to uphold its corporate social responsibilities as well as help facilitate the growth of its SME partners during a month in which consumer spending traditionally increases.
