PT Sari Valuta Asing (Sari Valas) is one of Sarinah’s subsidiaries engaged in foreign exchange. Sarinah’s foreign currency exchange business has been around since 1970, serving foreign tourists looking to shop as a supporting unit of Sarinah Department Store.
Over the years, the business has been growing and providing services for people looking to exchange foreign currencies. In 2004, Bank Indonesia issued Regulation No. 6/I/PBI/2004, which requires an independent Limited Liability Company status for all foreign exchange businesses. Complying with this rule, Sarinah's foreign exchange business was established as a Limited Liability Company and an authorized money changer under the name Sari Valuta Asing.
